Introduction to the UroGender Test

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Urobiologics was the first company to develop and commercially introduce gender determination after pregnancy by testing urine in 1984 and surprisingly it is the only company even today.  Please note that we are not just 'predicting' the gender, we are actually determining it. It is easy to sell a 'gender predictor' and get away with public money. We have a unique technology to determine the gender of your baby from as early as you can do the pregnancy test upto approximately 20th week by testing maternal urine, sent to us by mail. This is the earliest and most accurate test in the world, currently holding an expected accuracy rate of approximately 95%. In fact, if you used our pre-con tests and are pregnant in the desired phase, you probably already know what it is but it is good to get it tested to be sure. US and international patents are currently pending.

There are many gender related tests in the market now. We thought it is a good time to educate public where each one stands. We have tried to compare all the tests with our UroGender Test (UGT).

* The observed accuracy of Y-DNA is high when handled by Ph. D. level scientists but when technicians handle blood samples in large scale, the proportion of human error is high. Please also note that we have not included other tests floating in the market, because they are mostly gender 'predictor' tests and accuracy is so low that we do not even consider worthy of comparison here.

For this test, one needs to collect samples for two resting periods in one bottle. We need a total of six teaspoonfuls for the test. Upon receiving an order, we ship a package containing a urine sample collection bottle and a prepaid legal urine shipping bag. Customers collect urine samples for two resting period in one bottle and ship it.

How to collect the urine sample

When one places the order for this service, we mail them a urine sample collection package containing the following items:

1. A "Customer Agreement & Report Card"
2. One 30 ml sample collection tube with a boric acid preservative tablet in it. (Customers outside USA will receive one preservative tablets only. They can buy urine sample collection bottle from local pharmacy and add the tablet to bottle upon receipt.
3. A bubble wrap envelope which also works as sample absorber in case sample leaks during transportation.
4. One ziploc bag.
5. A diagnostic sample mailing bag with airway bill pasted on it.
6. You will need three additional items from home: a disposable plastic party spoon, a disposable cup and a piece of aluminum foil.

A: Carefully read the brochure from the website and / or call 313 574 7500 for clarification. A hard copy of brochure is not included.

B: Fill out the 'Customer Agreement & Report Card'. It is important that this form is completely filled out and the woman should sign it. The address must be written clearly, otherwise the report may get delayed. If paid by credit card, the card holder or any close relative must also sign to authorize the transaction.

C: Determine the number of days after missed menstrual date due to pregnancy. Suppose the first day of previous menstrual date was January 1 and you missed on January 28 and today is February 15, write 18 days here.

D: Customers from outside USA should sign the airbill as sender.

CAUTION: PLEASE DO NOT LET CHILDREN PLAY WITH ANY ITEM OF THE PACKAGE AS IT MAY CONTAIN PRESERVATIVES WHICH MAY BE DANGEROUS. PLEASE ARRANGE FOR GLOVES, IF NEEDED.

The Normal Process:

Urine samples are collected midstream during and after a period of sleep, for 2 nights in the same bottle. We need a total of six teaspoonfuls of sample for two resting periods i.e. three spoonfuls per resting period. If you wake up during midnight, collect one teaspoon at that time and two in the morning. Some women wake up straightaway in the morning, they can collect three spoonful then.  Every time after collecting the sample, the bottle should be capped and wrapped in foil, secured in the ziploc bag, and placed in the freezer.

1. Please keep these five items ready in the bathroom: a) specimen collection tube, b) a disposable plastic spoon, c) one disposable foam or paper cup, d) a piece of aluminum foil and e) the ziploc bag. The night you want to start collecting samples, have your dinner around 8.30-9.00pm. Pass the urine before going to bed. Do not collect this sample.
2. If you wake up in the middle of the night, around say 3am, collect midstream urine in the disposable cup, and add one spoonful to the collection tube. In the morning, say 7am, you will again collect midstream urine in the disposable cup, and transfer two spoonsfuls to the same collection tube. If you wake up straight in the morning, collect midstream urine in the disposable cup, and transfer three spoonfuls to the sample collection tube.

3. Tightly cap the tube, wrap it with aluminum foil and then in the ziploc bag, and keep in freezer. Wash and save the disposables for use on the next resting period. If you feel thirsty in the middle of the night,, you may have water (no soft drink please).

4. Repeat sample collection same way for the next night. If you wake up frequently during resting period, you may collect one spoonful every time. Please do not miss any sample.

5. If you work during night, you can collect during daytime. Since the resting period in these cases is usually small, it is advised to collect two teaspoonfuls per resting period for three days. If you forget to collect on one day, you can do it on some other day as long as the previous sample is in freezer. The timings are approximate and you can change the shipping day to suit your schedule.                                                                                                                                                                                                       

NOTE: Please avoid exposing urine sample to daylight or sunlight for more than 5 minutes. Keep the tube covered with aluminum foil and enclose it in the ziploc bag and keep in the freezer all the time. If you are regularly taking some medicines, you may continue them. The medicine for the day should preferably be taken after collecting the sample.

The Speedy Process:
If you want to save time, you may start collecting samples from the same night you placed the order. Do not worry if there is no preservative because freezing preserves the sample for our purposes.  If we have sent the bottle to you, completely melt the sample in your bottle under cold water and transfer the whole sample in our tube. Cap our tube and wrap aluminum foil around it. There is no need to freeze it now and you can mail it back the same day. This way you will save 2 to 3 days. Customers outside USA can add the preservative tablet sent by us to the sample and ship it.

How to mail the urine sample

1. Check that your address is there on the airway bill pasted on the FEDEX or UPS bag. Remove the first copy for your record.
2. Check that you wrote your name and date of sample collection on the bottle. The sample tube must be wrapped with aluminum foil. Place the tube in a zip lock bag and seal it thoroughly. Place it in the yellow bubble envelop and seal it.
3. Insert this envelop in 'Diagnostic Specimen Envelop' or Laboratory Pak’.
4. Enclose the signed agreement, self addressed envelope, and the appropriate money order, if not paid, in a separate ziploc bag, and seal it. Place it in the Laboratory pak. Remove the masking tape and close the bag. You may drop the package in any FEDEX or UPS drop box. (Attention customers from outside USA: The Laboratory Pak has copies of commercial invoice placed in a ziplock bag pasted outside. Please sign all the three forms as sender and place it as they were. We provide you those forms ready but it is better to visit the FEDEX or UPS office, as the case may be, and personally handover the package to them to avoid any confusion.

NOTE: DO NOT PUT REFRIGERATOR ICE OR DRY ICE IN THE PACKAGE. IT WILL START LEAKING AND WILL BE DELAYED BY COURIER.

It is good to track the package with the courier to make sure it is delivered in time.

We report the result within 4 days of receipt of fee and sample. Customer should ensure that she gets the report directly from us.
